Fortea, Daniel one of the few disciples of Francisco Tárrega, Fortea was born at Benlloch, Castellon de la Plana, Spain, April 28, 1878 and died there March 5, 1953.
An outstanding Spanish Guitar virtuoso and composer, Daniel Fortea was a student of Francisco Tarrega. Fortea began his professional guitar studies at age 6, and soon developed into a famous concert performer with regular appearances in Madrid, Barcelona and other major cities in Spain. Fortea published his own compositions and founded Biblioteca Fortea, with almost 1000 works, almost exclusively for guitar.
He commenced the study of guitar at an early age and eventually became a popular concert artist appearing in Madrid, Barcelona and other important cities in Spain. He was a prolific composer of lighter repertoire such as national airs and dances.
